News Ltd is going through tough times and has plans to reduce staff in order to survive in the competitive market. Structural changes are being made in the company as online advertising and online reading is becoming popular with the public. Structural changes necessitate cutting jobs for the survival of the company. Four hundred editorial jobs are facing retrenchment. Many have already lost jobs in News Ltd. Some more job cuts are on the card. Their two tabloids have been merged into seven day operations. They plan to have a centralized news system.
