200 Wayne County Employees Could Face Layoffs
Post Views 0County Executive Robert Ficano proposed a new budget on Monday that, if approved, stands to put approximately 200 employees out of work in Wayne County, Michigan.
The largest budgetary reductions are being proposed in the treasurer’s office, clerk’s office, executive departments, and probate court. Overall the plan would reduce spending by 1.7%.
“It is not only our spending plan for the next year, it is a blueprint for reform,” said chief financial officer Carla Sledge.
The county is currently faced with a $266 million deficit which Ficano is hoping to improve with his proposal.
