Costa Mesa City Council has recently approved layoffs for 200 city workers, eight police officers and one animal control officer even though an audit found $23 million in the city’s fund for the upcoming year.The layoffs were approved on Wednesday while Slavely,the Costa Mesa Police Department interim Chief resigned abruptly on Monday accusing council members of lying about a financial crisis In his resignation letter.Slavely calls the issue the most unprofessional thing in his career as there is no financial crisis at all and there is some political involvement.
