Autodesk Decimates Workforce, Fires 750 in California
Post Views 5Software maker Autodesk will eliminate 750 jobs, or about 10% of its work force, as it cuts costs.
The maker of the popular AutoCAD design software used by engineers and architects will sell its location-services unit to private-equity firm Hale Capital Partners, so it can focus on its core software business.
The job cuts follow a hiring freeze, business-travel restrictions and other cost reductions.
Autodesk creates 2D and 3D design software for use in architecture, engineering & building construction, manufacturing, and media & entertainment. It was founded in 1982 by John Walker, a co-author of early versions of the company’s flagship CAD software product, AutoCAD. It is headquartered in San Rafael, California.
