American Greetings is cutting about 200 jobs as the company adjusts for weaker sales in economic meltdown.

Employees were informed of the layoffs yesterday.

The Cleveland-based company is eliminating between 100 and 120 jobs at a plant in Bardstown, Kentucky. About 60 layoffs will be split among two plants in Osceola, Arkansas and Ripley, Tennessee.

American Greetings is also eliminating 15 jobs at its Carlton Card retail division at its Cleveland headquarters.

The layoffs will come during the company’s fiscal Q4 ending February 28th.

The company announced last year that it would close 60 of its approximately 415 stores across the country by the end of February.
