The Cessna Aircraft Company has canceled both of its upcoming supplier symposiums and have handed out their supposedly last round of layoffs.
Cessna spokesman Doug Oliver says the cancellations were another cost-saving measure in light of the current economic climate.
“Like all the other companies, we feel that Cessna and our supplier base are looking for ways to cut costs right now,” Oliver says.
Oliver also confirms that Cessna employees will be receiving 60-day layoff notices Thursday.

He says they should represent the last round of notices included in the company’s plan to cut 4,600 total job, including 4,000 in Wichita.

Cessna Aircraft Company is located in Wichita, Kansas and manufactures freight and passenger aircrafts, as well as business jets and personal single engine planes. The company is owned by Textron Inc, who released a dismal fourth-quarter financial report for 2008.
