Sun Microsystems Cutting 1,500 Jobs

Sun Microsystems is laying off 1,500 workers company-wide.

The Santa Clara, California-based company announced last Fall it was planning to cut 18% of its workforce, or about 6,000 jobs. This week’s layoffs are part of the plan.

Sun is reportedly in discussions over a $6.5 billion acquisition offer from Armonk, New York’s IBM.
