USPSThe US Postal Service has cut 25,000 jobs this year. Postmaster General John Potter announced today that the agency’s workforce total is below 635,000, down from 800,000 in 1999.

Thousands of carrier routes have been eliminated as mail volume declines.

The postal service faces a potential budget deficit of $6.5 billion for fiscal 2009.
