High-Tech Company CA Inc. Cutting 1,000 Jobs

CA Inc. is eliminating 1,000 jobs, or about 8 percent of its workforce, as part of a restructuring plan, the business software company revealed Tuesday.

The news came via a filing made with the Securities and Exchange Commission Tuesday, which also showed most of the job cuts will be in North America. Additionally, the company, which makes products that help manage large computer networks, said its full-year earnings would not be particularly strong.

CA Inc expects to complete the restructuring by the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2011, according to the filing. CA Inc is a multinational computer software corporation headquartered in Islandia, New York.
