Fresno, CA Lets 15 Correctional Officers Go

The Fresno County Board of Supervisors narrowly approved a salary resolution on Tuesday by a 3-2 vote. One of the main results of the decision will be the firing of 15 correctional officers effective May 3.

Also on the agenda was a motion to allow Sheriff Margaret Mims to be given $200,000 from the sheriff’s budget to pay for previous legal fees. Mims won an injunction against the board last month which now keeps them from having authority over her budgeting decisions. The board approved the motion 4-1, but reduced the amount to $100,000.
