The Phoenix Business Journal:  Keeping the promise it made in January, Tennessee-based NN Inc. plans to close its Whirlaway metals manufacturing plant in Tempe, Arizona in August.  The plant closure will bring about some 129 layoffs adding to the 250,000 plus jobs lost in the region since November 2007.

NN Inc. manufactures precision bearing components, industrial plastic and rubber products and precision metal components used in HVAC, systems, cars and other industrial equipment.  It acquired Ohio-based Whirlaway, which produces precision metal parts also used in the automotive industry, in 2006.  The corporation will close the plant’s doors on August 15 and has announced that it will offer severance and job search services to those employees affected.
