Stanley Black & Decker Laying Off 80 in Tennessee
Post Views 4Stanley Black & Decker announced Wednesday that it is closing a Jackson, Tennessee distribution center and will be cutting 80 jobs as a consequence. The toolmaking company said that the closure is part of a cost-cutting strategy in response to decreased demand.
Two other distribution centers, one in Rialto, CA and one in Ft. Mill, SC, will remain open and handle inventory that would otherwise have shipped from Jackson.
“The company,” said Stanley Black & Decker Global Communications Director Tim Perra, “will provide severance and job placement assistance” for affected workers.
The layoffs are scheduled to begin in October and proceed through April, 2011.
