Today, General Motors and Bright Automotive announced a new partnership, reports the Herald Bulletin.  The alliance between the Anderson, Indiana-based manufacturer and one of America’s big three auto makers could create as many as 6,000 new jobs, although where and when those jobs are to appear is still uncertain.  Hoosiers are hoping the jobs stay there.

The Bright and GM venture provides funding to Bright which will accelerate production of its IDEA., a plug-in hybrid commercial vehicle.  In anticipation of the deal, Bright has already begun to expand its Anderson facility.  The GM capital investment will create some 1,000 jobs directly associated with the manufacture of the vehicle and an additional 5,000 in peripheral support, supplier and infrastructure positions.
