PSL North America revealed that 300 workers at their Hancock County plant have been laid off.

The pipe manufacturer’s CEO, Brian Vail, says that the layoffs were more to do with the company’s current job ending as opposed to any particular problems in the industry.

Vail said that PSL began a large-scale project in January 2009 and that the project has now reached its final stages. He also said that although the company is looking for business, there are no pending positions available at the moment.

Headquarters for PSL North America are located at the Port Bienville Industrial Park. The pipe manufacturer arrived in Hancock County after Hurricane Katrina in 2007.

Vail hopes to rehire the laid off employees once new contracts have been secured.
