Defense Contractor BAE Systems To Layoff 124 Employees In 2010

BAE Systems, a York County-based defense contractor has announced 124 layoffs to be held throughout the rest of 2010 at its Fayette County plant. According to the company, the layoffs are a result of decreased military spending.

As is required by law, BAE filed the proper notices with the state. The employees affected are the workers on the production line.

53 workers will be laid off in October, while 63 will hold onto their jobs until December. Eight more will say goodbye to the plant in January. In addition to the upcoming mass layoffs, BAE gave 8 employees the axe this week.
