USA Today is laying off 130 workers this fall as part of “the most dramatic overhaul of its staff in its 28-year history,” the Associated Press reports.

It was not revealed which departments would suffer the cuts, but the reorganization is part of a plan to shift the emphasis of the nation’s second-largest newspaper to its digital media operations.

The cuts translate to roughly 9 percent of USA Today’s total work force of 1,500. Like most newspapers around the country, USA Today has been dealing with declining circulation and drastic drops in advertising revenue. Publisher Dave Hunke told the AP the reorganization “is pretty radical. This gets us ready for our next quarter century.”
