Pennsylvania FlagAs the Letterkenny Arms Depot, near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania winds down production on a five-year contract for some 20,000 U.S. Army High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (better known to most people as Humvees), contractors at the facility are preparing for layoffs. The army expects to cut 69 positions by January of 2011.

Depot commander Col. Cheri Provancha had praise for humvee production line and pledged to find additional jobs for those laid off: “We regret,” said Provencha, “the end of this great program. I fully understand the disruptions this reduction may cause in the personal lives in our community and I am committed to bringing additional work to the depot to offset this loss.”
