Layoff Notices Rescinded by San Diego Unified School District for Arts and Music Teachers

The San Diego Unified School District recently voted to rescind pink slips previously issued to music and arts teachers. Drastic layoffs have proven necessary this year in order to reconcile major budget cuts the district will face this coming school year. In order to save the music and art positions, high level administrative positions were cut. Other sacrifices were made such as rejecting the restoration of small kindergarten class sizes. A final vote will take place June 28.
