Whirlpool to eliminate over 300 jobs at its Amana plant

Due to the slow economy, plans were announced Friday by Whirlpool Corp. to lay off approximately 315 workers at their refrigerator plant in Amana. The layoff will primarily affect workers on the third shift. The company, which manufactures French door refrigerators and ice-makers, had earlier spring plans to produce a large quantity of units, however market demand has not emerged.
