Hanford nuke reservation to cut 1,000 employees

In Richland, Washington, the Department of Energy has notified environmental clean up workers that they face layoffs up to 1,000 men. And this isn’t even the first round of layoffs. Earlier this year, Hanford was notified that they were going to have to let go of some 1,900 employees. The Hanford Nuclear Reservation, located in Eastern Washington, which employed some 12,000 people at the beginning of this year, is expected to cut their workforce by 25 percent. The area environment around Hanford has been contaminated for years, and the clean up has been ongoing.
