Cook County layoff ends

Some 100 Cook County employees are served with Layoff notices. This decision came after Board President Toni Preckwinkle’s request to eight unpaid days of work in the coming year was rejected by the employee unions. Toni Preckwinkle is seeking to eliminate some 1,600 jobs which include 543 vacant positions and 282 from the Board President’s administration itself.
