ProCAP announces layoffs to reorganize finances
Post Views 2ProCAP (The Providence Community Action Program) has announced layoffs for 20 employees and filed for court protection in order to reorganize its finances. The move is expected to save nearly $995,000 and was deemed “unavoidable” by the interim executive director, Frank Shea. Programs to be eliminated include emergency housing assistance, consumer advocacy and transportation for the elderly. The mayor of Providence, however, has reasserted his commitment to saving ProCAP.
