Baltimore County plans on cracking down on some of the illegal advertisements that have been displayed all over the city. The signs are quite easy to see, regardless of where you are at. You will notice signs for cheap crabs, day cares that are open later than usual, places to find furniture, and all sorts of other advertisements as well. You can see them posted all over different telephone poles within a strip of the street, and they are often blown away on windy days because they are not secured correctly. Worst of all, residents of Baltimore County are sick of these advertisements and are truly bothered by the whole ordeal.

The president for the Rockdale Civic & Improvement Association, Ed Bard, says that these types of illegal advertisements constantly irritate him and that he plans to fight these illegals signs. He even said it is a passion of his, fighting to make sure these illegal signs cannot be placed around the area. In response to this, the code enforcement of Baltimore County admitted that they have been cracking down on this nuisance and will continue to do so. In fact, crew will be hired to remove these signs from different sidewalks, as well as from the utility poles that they are so often attached to. And, with the county code intact, residents can remove any signs like this that they may see. Bard says that he has been ripping down all the ones in his area but that because offenders are constantly posting so many, it has been hard to rip all of them, especially since a new trend for these offenders is to put the signs up very high, so that they are out of reach of pedestrians. One would need a truck with a ladder to get them all down.

Those who are posting these signs can end up with a fine of $500 for each individual sign. However, officials do plan to give off warnings first, letting people know that they cannot place these illegal signs wherever they want. A lot of the people that are doing this simply do not know or understand that they are, in fact, breaking a law, which is why it is important to serve a warning before hitting them with a fine.

The county officials have pointed out a lot of the different problems these signs are causing. They are distracting to the drivers and also contribute to the litter and pollution problems. Businesses think this is a fantastic way for them to advertise for their business but it simply is not fair to other businesses that are following the rules and in that case, these people need to understand what they are doing is illegal and will not be tolerated in Baltimore County any longer.
