Sarah Tressler, a 30 year old woman who works part-time as a stripper was recently terminated from her other position with a newspaper and is now claiming that she has been discriminated against based on her gender. Tressler filed the complaint sometime during the week, in which she asked the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of the United States to investigate the reason in which she was terminated from the newspaper she worked for, the Houston Chronicle. Tressler says she believes that she was let go because a different newspaper talked about her other job as a stripper.

For the newspaper, Tressler was responsible for a number of different assignments, which included fashion and other things that people generally find interesting. She was working for the paper for approximately two month. In the meantime, she did work as a stripper here and there but Tressler says that it was a job that had helped her pay for her college tuition. Tressler says that sometimes she would just go to there to get a workout, since she would be dancing around in very high heels, which is a good way to get a workout.

Information about Tressler being a part-time stripper was displayed in a rival newspaper after they found a blog in which she entitled the Diary of an Angry Stripper. Even though the blog was published privately, the rival newspaper was still able to find out the information they needed to actually publish the story with true details. After the newspaper was published, Tressler was told by a newspaper editor at the Houston Chronicle that she was terminated because she did not include her past experience with exotic dancing in her application for the paper. Tressler argues that in the application, there was no specific area that asked her about her dancing.

Tressler says that after finding out she was fired, she was very upset, especially since a lot of the editors were telling her that she was doing a fantastic job with her writing. Now, she has decided to file a lawsuit and has Gloria Allred as her lawyer. Allred is known for representing women in many different kinds of gender discrimination cases. Allred says that the newspaper company did, in fact, use gender discrimination, especially since the vast majority of exotic dancers are women.

In the meantime, Tressler defends her decision and says that she relied on exotic dancing as a way of paying for her college, as she has earned her Master’s Degree. Tressler says she was simply trying to pursue her dreams in journalism and never imagined that exotic dancing would hold her back from having the position she always wanted to have and actually went to college for.
