The Mayor of Quincy, Thomas Koch, has chosen to terminate a police officer known for feuding with his neighbors in the Post Island Road area. The police officer had not recently started feuding with the neighbors and instead, this has been an ongoing issue that took place over the span of several years all because of a number of different issues. Some of the issues that took place were arguments over the enforcement of the dog ordinance in the Quincy area, which includes the laws that state animals must be placed on a leash. Koch made his decision on the 12th of June, after receiving a recommendation from the human resources director of Quincy, Stephen McGrath. McGrath stated that he talked with the police chief, Paul Keenan, about the possibility of letting the police officer, McGunigle; go because of his inability to obey laws that have been enforced when he is outside of his place of work, not at the police station.

Once the Mayor received the recommendations, he decided that it would be in the best interest for the Quincy area to let the police officer go, terminating him from his position immediately, due to his inability to follow laws outside of his work as a police officer. McGrath made the decision to go with the termination request for McGunigle because he did not obey orders when he was in the police station and those orders came from his chief, which showed he was lacking the inability to respect and listen to others. At that point in time, McGunigle was not working and was actually on paid leave due to a different disciplinary issue he was dealing with at the time. Keenan stated that when McGunigle came to the station, he did it as a way of trying to intimidate the neighbor because at that moment, she was at the police station as well, discussing the application she put in to receive a license to carry a firearm. McGunigle told McGrath that it just happened to be a coincidence that he and his neighbor were both at the police station at the same time.

However, McGrath states that even if McGunigle did not have the intent to intimidate his neighbor while at the police station, he still did not listen to the orders that he received from his Chief, as the chief directed him to stay away from the police station for the time being. That just happened to show a major lack of respect for the boss. After taking everything into consideration, McGrath decided that McGunigle was unfit to work as a police officer and because of that, his gun license was also taken away from him. During his time as a police officer, McGunigle caused a lot of different problems and controversies, so it is best for the Quincy area to part ways with him as a police officer.
