It looks like Hawker Beechcraft is getting ready to get rid of more workers in the process of cutting back on its costs. The company is getting ready to get rid of about  125 workers in its newest set of layoffs. The layoffs are set to impact the workers at the Wichita facility. The company has filed a WARN notice with the state to tell them all about the impending layoffs.

125 jobs cut are more then enough to qualify as a mass layoff action under the current federal guidelines. For those of you who are not familiar with the idea here is a look at how the federal government defines a mass layoff, “actions that result in workers being separated from their jobs. Monthly mass layoff numbers are from establishments which have at least 50 initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) filed against them during a 5-week period. Extended mass layoff numbers (issued quarterly) are from a subset of such establishments—where private sector nonfarm employers indicate that 50 or more workers were separated from their jobs for at least 31 days.”  Under the terms of a mass layoff action the workers will be given advance notice before being taken off of the payrolls entirely, giving them and the community at large time to adjust to the loss of jobs in the local area.

Of course this is not the first round of layoffs that Hawker Beechcraft  has made in recent months. Some of you may recall the last time we talked about layoffs at Hawker Beechcraft, but for those of you who missed our earlier coverage here is an excerpt that will get you up to speed in no time at all, “It looks like this time the company is getting ready to get rid of another round of workers. The company has decided to send layoff notices to about 150 of its hourly and non-hourly employees. That level of layoffs is enough to qualify under the current federal guide lines as a mass layoff action.”

Before that the company made layoffs in April of this year that impacted 350 workers. For those of you who missed out on that coverage here is an excerpt that will get you up to speed in not time at all, “Hawker Beechcraft  just gave layoff notices to 350 workers in a bid to spend more in order to reduce the bottom line. The notices are not immediate effect and workers will have 60 days until they are out of a job. While it is not much time to begin looking for work it is at least some time to build a plan. As the company currently employs roughly 6,000 people this cut will represent about five percent of the current workforce.” That was just before the company filed for bankruptcy in the month of May.

Interestingly enough the company is not posting any information about the layoffs on its news site. The most recent press release was about an exhibition at the 2012 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition.
