Just a week ago, IBM made an announcement about its acquisition with Kenexa, a software provider of all things related to human resources. Kenexa was originally based in a small area outside of Philadelphia, located directly in Wayne, Pennsylvania. It was first established over two decades ago, back in 1987. When Kenexa first started, it operated as recruiting services for several different industries but by 1993, it had released its first form of software. Just three years after the release of its first software program, the company managed to acquire over a dozen different companies, helping to build an extensive human resources portfolio. Over the years, the company managed to snap up various different companies and went public around seven years ago, back in 2005. Over that period of time, a number of acquisitions have taken place for Kenexa, helping it to become a top provider of talent management software for thousands of different companies around the world. The software provided by Kenexa helps manage millions of people.

The company is known for selling a number of different types of software, some of which are packaged and some of which can be used directly online. There are a number of different applications available, some of which are designed for outsourcing projects and others that are used for compensation and skills management. In this day and age, human resources software is very essential. It has become a necessity for tons of companies, especially if they are looking to stay organized with everything.

The purchase of Kenexa from IBM is definitely one of the biggest purchases that IBM has made for this entire decade, paying $1.3 billion for the acquisition. Back in November of 2007, IBM spent a total of $5 billion to purchase Congnos. IBM has definitely purchased a number of different companies that offer tools for marketing and web analysis, especially because the company wants to stay on top of its game. The company decided that taking action within the human resources department would make the most sense and is not worried about bothering Oracle or SAP, its leading competitors.

At this very moment in time, Kenexa employs a total of 2,800 employees and operates in nearly two dozen different countries. It is believed that there will be plenty more employees working for the company because IBM is much larger. IBM has predicted that the deal will come to a close by the end of the fourth quarter and at that point in time, the acquisition will be finalized and will officially be a done deal.
