Sanofi is a name that some of you may know, and others among you may be completely unfamiliar with. After all unless you deal with a lot in the way of medical suppliers. So, for those of you who are not familiar with the company here is a look at how the company describes itself, “Sanofi is a diversified global healthcare leader with nearly 100,000 dedicated professions in more than 100 countries. Sanofi US, with headquarters in Bridgewater, New Jersey, along with our vaccines division, Sanofi Pasteur, employs more than 11,400 professionals throughout the country. We work to prevent and treat the diseases we know about today, as well as those we may face tomorrow.” Apparently the company believes that it can best fact tomorrow without a significant number of its employees on the payrolls, draining sorely needed cash.

Some of you may recall that the company is going to cut back on jobs in order to make things work out in the very near future. Those layoffs, which we have talked about in an earlier post, were set to impact a high number of employees, “Apparently, the company is hoping that they can do that work without a significant number of workers. The company is getting ready to layoff between 1,000 and 2,000 workers in a bid to decrease its overall costs. The job cuts are expected to all come from workers in France, and are expected to impact workers in the company’s manufacturing operating, most notably in the creation of vaccines for various diseases.”

While it looks like the company is getting ready to make those layoffs happen, but not in its home base of France. The company has made a public statement that they are going to find a new place to cut back on the jobs.

The company has already made job cuts to its US division in the recent past, “Sanofi US, with headquarters in Bridgewater, New Jersey, along with our vaccines division, Sanofi Pasteur, employs more than 11,400 professionals throughout the country. We work to prevent and treat the diseases we know about today, as well as those we may face tomorrow.” Apparently in order to face tomorrow the company believes that they need to thin the ranks a little. The company has sent out layoff notices to 112 workers. The company, which employs about 11,400 people in the US is not losing a large percentage of their staff, but since all of the job cuts are coming from a single location there are some complications to be dealt with. The jobs are all going to be cut from the company’s manufacturing plant in Kansas City.”

This does not however, preclude the fact that the layoffs could come back to the US again. For now the workers will have to wait and see what happens when the company makes its decisions and the pink slips come to the workers who are going to bear the brunt of the cuts when all is said and done.
