Ergo Versicherungsgruppe AG is a name that many of you are more than likely not too familiar with. For those of you who are not too familiar with the company lets take a look at how they have chosen to describe themselves before we talk about the job cuts that are going to come in the near future, “ERGO is one of the major insurance groups in Germany and Europe. Worldwide, the Group is represented in over 30 countries and concentrates on Europe and Asia. ERGO offers a comprehensive spectrum of insurance, provision and services. In its home market of Germany, ERGO ranks among the leading providers across all segments. 50,000 people work for the Group, either as salaried employees or as full-time self-employed sales representatives. In 2011, ERGO recorded a premium income of 20 billion Euros and paid out benefits to customers amounting to 17.5 billion Euros.“

The company is getting ready to cut back on about 600 jobs over the next three years. The company is going to be cutting back on 200 jobs by the end of the current year, then they will be getting rid of another 200 next year and then again in 2014. These job cuts, all of which are slated to come from back end positions, though fort he time being the company is not laying out a list of which positions will be getting cut over the next two years.

In its latest release the company has decided not to highlight the job cuts and instead talk about the  health of people in the nation of Germany,“ Many Germans lead unhealthy lives, and it is primarily the young and middle-aged who are becoming increasingly inactive. Those who spend the longest time sitting down were among the youngest participants of the study. // DKV Board Chairman Muth: “Highlighting the dangers of obesity and lack of exercise should be given the same significance as AIDS prevention.” // Additional focal points: mental health and sleep, with one in five showing symptoms of depression. High earners and people with a high level of education are psychologically more stable and also tend to sleep better. For the second time, the “Zentrum für Gesundheit” (Health Centre) at the German Sport University Cologne has interviewed people about their health-related behavior on behalf of health insurer DKV. In a representative survey conducted by the German market research institute GfK, 3,032 people answered questions about themselves and their daily lives, including how much exercise they do, what they eat, how stressed they are, as well as their cigarette and alcohol habits. Besides these five topics, the DKV Report also enquired into people’s psychological well-being and sleeping patterns.“

As you can imagine this is not the only layoffs in healthcare support fields. For those of you who missed out on our earlier cuts  at Quest Diagnostics here is an excerpt that will get you up to speed in no time at all,“ Sadly the company is getting ready to give the axe to about 600 workers in layoffs to come in the near future. While the company has said that the layoffs are going to come from management positions they have not outlined the cuts any further. So there is no firm date for the job cuts, no idea of where exactly the cuts are to come from or whether or not the cuts are slated to become a mass layoff action.”
