The Clinton Community College (CCC) in Plattsburgh, faced with a $600,000 budget shortfall for 2013-2014, has sought to address the gap by cutting 10 positions. Admissions Advisor Martha Hewitt urged the CCC Board of Trustees to reinstate one of the 10 positions, which entailed admission and recruiting. Hewitt argued that as enrollment falls, recruiting and admissions efforts should increase, rather than be cut. A Mr. Jablonski, whose role was not stated, refuted Mrs. Hewitt’s argument, stating that enrollment is up, and that the particular position referred to by Mrs. Hewitt was only minimally involved in admissions.
