News Corp. Split – It’s Official

Rupert Murdoch’s media conglomerate News Corp. has finalized its separation into two publicly traded companies: one, 21st Century Fox, is devoted to entertainment, and the other, News Corp (note the dropped period), to news and business information. The separation will allow the entertainment side of Murdoch’s media empire to pursue its full growth potential, while enabling News Corp to focus on cost-cutting measures, including the transformation of print newspapers to digital “platforms” for new digital products. News Corp is the biggest newspaper publisher in the U.S.
