The vast majority of part-timers, defined as those who work less than 35 hours a week, are happy with their status. But economists don’t have a definitive answer for why more part-timers are content to work fewer hours. Part of it could be that workers who had been looking for full-time work have now decided they prefer the flexibility of a part-time schedule.
