About 136 workers at an Enfield envelope factory will lose their jobs when its parent company closes the facility this Spring.

MeadWestvaco announced the closing as part of a restructuring plan that eliminates about 2,000 of its 22,000 positions worldwide.

The Enfield plant makes and distributes envelope products for the billing, financial, and direct-mail markets.

MeadWestvaco says it will also restructure staffing at a corporate office in Springfield, Massachusetts, where four workers will be laid off.

MeadWestvaco closed two Springfield plants in 2002 and transferred some work and employees to Enfield. The company also left its former Stamford corporate headquarters in 2005 and moved to Richmond, Virginia, resulting in about 100 job losses in Connecticut.
