Rexnord has cut 100 jobs in the Milwaukee area this week, 75 of them at its Falk subsidiary in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley.

Rexnord had about 1,300 employees in the Milwaukee area prior to the cuts, including about 700 at Falk, which manufactures industrial-size gears.

The cuts involve a “range of job responsibilities from the floor to white-collar positions,” Rexnord spokesperson Karen Schwenke said.

Rexnord, which has 6,800 employees worldwide, also cut 60 jobs at other locations.

The job cuts are in response to the downturn in the economy, Schwenke said.

“It’s based on customer-driven demand,” she said. “We will staff to meet demand levels.”

Rexnord is a diversified multi-platform industrial company that manufactures and markets power transmission and water management products.
