fye storeTrans World Entertainment has eliminated 45 stock and receiving jobs at its Albany, New York distribution center, the second set of layoffs announced by the CD, DVD and video game retailer this year.

Trans World’s distribution center, which employs about 230, hires about 60 seasonal workers each fall.

Seasonal workers typically leave within a few weeks after the holiday season, but that did not happen this year. About 15 jobs were vacated through attrition after the holidays.

The cuts were announced February 19th, a little more than a month after the company laid off 25 administrative employees at its Albany headquarters.

In January the retailer shut 70 of its f.y.e. stores, which impacted 700 employees. The company still operates 715 f.y.e. stores.

Besides CDs, DVDs, video games, Trans World also sells electronics accessories.

Trans World still employs approximately 8,000 full- and part-time employees, including 225 in the administrative offices and 230 at the distribution warehouse.
