Chesapeake Energy will cut 215 jobs in Charleston, West Virginia, as it converts the office from a regional corporate headquarters to a regional field office.

The company is consolidating the management of its Eastern Division operations into the company’s corporate offices in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Chesapeake said about 40 positions will remain in Charleston, while the positions of those affected will either be moved to Oklahoma City or eliminated.

Chesapeake Energy is the largest independent producer of natural gas in the United States.
