Baltimore Schools to Cut 179 HQ Jobs

The Baltimore school board has approved a $1.27 billion budget for next academic year that cuts 179 central office jobs.

The central office will shrink to 1,007 employees after the latest job cuts take effect. It employed 1,500 people in 2007.

Those laid off will have the opportunity to apply for other jobs within the system.
