Minnesota Spending $3.8 Million to Redevelop ‘Blighted’ Sites, Create Jobs

Minnesota flagThe Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development has awarded $3.8 million to nine projects to redevelop blighted sites, creating 400 jobs.

Forest Lake, Glencoe, Milaca, Wadena and Waite Park each received one grant; St. Paul and Minneapolis each received two grants.

Cities can use the grants to pay for up to 50% of the cost of redeveloping the sites.

The grants include money for a mixed-use development in St. Paul, a former Pillsbury mill in Minneapolis, and mall road and utility improvements in Forest Lake.
