Cable Maker Lays Off 32

Alcan Cable, which supplies 600 volt underground power cables and transmission cables to utility businesses and distribution warehouses, has laid off 32 employees at its Wilbur, Oregon production plant.

Alcan has six plants in North America, including two in Canada and four in the US.

The company hopes to re-hire those laid off when the economy turns around.
