Continental AGGermany’s Continental AG will cut 6,000 jobs world-wide in March, due to weak demand.

The firm will also put 25,000 workers on short-time work hours by the end of the month, and will shut down some plants.

The US subsidiary, Continental Tire of North America, closed its Kentucky plant in 2006.

Continental AG is a worldwide leading manufacturer of tires, brake systems, vehicle stability control systems, engine injection systems, tachographs and other parts for the automotive and transport industries. The firm is based in Hanover, Germany.
