Hanesbrands Laying Off 250 White Collars, 250 Blue

Hanesbrands will lay off 500 employees in corporate management and in distribution.

Two hundred and fifty management employees will get notices this week; 200 of them based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Hanesbrands will also lay off 40 employees from its Winston-Salem distribution center, which will shutter in March 2010. The remaining 200 workers will be laid off at that time.

The company will also terminate its contract with a third-party distribution center in Jacksonville, Florida, affecting 10 Hanesbrands employees.

Employees affected by the layoffs will receive severance and outplacement.
