Wisconsin May Lay Off 1,100 State Employees

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle may lay off up to 1,100 state workers in response to a state budget shortfall.

Seven hundred jobs will be lost as part of a 5% cut. Doyle says he may have to let go another 400, if unions don’t make concessions.

Also, most state workers will have to take 16 days of unpaid leave over the next two years.
