University of Central FloridaThe University of Central Florida Board of Trustees will consider cutting five academic programs, and 51 faculty and staff jobs.

The school would raise tuition 15%. The scheme is intended to save $6.1 million.

The programs targeted are cardiopulmonary sciences, engineering technology, management information systems, radiologic sciences and statistics & actuarial science. Students who need classes in these programs to graduate would receive assistance from the university.

Faculty and staff would have two semesters notice before losing their jobs.

Founded in 1963, The University of Central Florida is a space-grant university located on a 1,415-acre campus in Orlando, Florida. UCF is a member institution of the State University System of Florida and is the fifth-largest university in the United States.
