University of Central Florida to Cut 51 Faculty & Staff

The University of Central Florida Board of Trustees will consider cutting five academic programs, and 51 faculty and staff jobs.

The school would raise tuition 15%. The scheme is intended to save $6.1 million.

The programs targeted are cardiopulmonary sciences, engineering technology, management information systems, radiologic sciences and statistics & actuarial science. Students who need classes in these programs to graduate would receive assistance from the university.

Faculty and staff would have two semesters notice before losing their jobs.
