Farmers Group to Expand Michigan Campus, Hire 1,600

Farmers GroupFarmers Group will spend $84.4 million to expand its Grand Rapids, Michigan campus, adding 1,600 employees and creating 11,000 direct, spin-off and construction jobs in the state.

Farmers will build two new buildings totaling 275,000 square feet, housing offices, a training facility, a call center and a print & distribution center.

The Michigan Economic Growth Authority Board has granted $62 million in tax incentives over 18 years for the project

Michigan has the nation’s highest unemployment rate, 12.9%

The Farmers Insurance Group of Companies is a personal lines property and casualty insurance group providing homeowners insurance, auto insurance, life insurance, and financial services in the United States. It is the third largest insurance group in the US, servicing over 10 million households in 41 states.

While Farmers Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services of Switzerland, it is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
