aurorahealthcare_160x120Aurora Health Care are eliminating 90 jobs, and will leave 220 positions vacant. The cuts were announced to employees this week, and will be competed within 14 days.

The layoffs largely target support staffers at the hospital system’s Milwaukee headquarters. Those let go will get priority in applying for new positions.

Aurora Health Care is a non-profit health care system located in eastern Wisconsin, and headquartered in Milwaukee. The system has 13 hospitals, over 100 clinics, and more than 140 community pharmacies.

Since its formation in 1984, Aurora’s rapid expansion by acquisition of independent community hospitals and construction of new hospitals has been met with controversy. With 25,000 employees including 3,400 physicians, Aurora is Wisconsin’s largest private-sector employer.
