Panasonic Sending 90 Tennessee Jobs to Mexico

Panasonic Electronic Devices will send 90 Knoxville, Tennessee factory jobs to Mexico.

The Knoxville plant manufactures audio speakers and electronic capacitors. After the 90 layoffs, the plant will employ 80. It had 700 workers in 2002.

Panasonic Corporation, formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial, is a multinational corporation based in Kadoma, Japan. Its main business is in electronics manufacturing, and it produces products under a variety of names including Panasonic and Technics.
