Connecticut Nuclear Plant to lay off 50-75 Employees

connecticutflag_160x120Millstone Nuclear Power Plant in Waterford, Connecticut announced that it will lay off between 50 and 75 employees on April 1st. The company will proceed with lay offs after its buyout program did not reach its target of 200 to 225 employees. Only 150 workers accepted a buyout offered to workers 55 or older who had three years of employment with the company.

Laid off workers will receive between 2 and 18 months of salary depending on how many years they have worked for the company. The workers will also receive six months of health insurance coverage. Job cuts will be made regardless of seniority.
