pennsylvaniaflag_160x120Moses Taylor Hospital in Pennsylvania has laid off 61 full time employees. This is the first time in 17 years the hospital has laid off anybody. The cuts effect every department including the administrative staff. CEO Karen Murphy says the cuts come on the heels of increased cost for care and decreasing reimbursement rates. She says that over the past decade the hospital has had non sustainable operating losses. The hospital is looking for new ways to reduce operational expenses this year.

Employees who have lost their jobs will be offered outplacement counseling services and severance based on their length of service. Moses Taylor is helping these employees identify regional employment opportunities.
