illinoisflag_160x120100 non tenured teachers in the Kaneland, Illinois school district will receive lay off notices by the school years end. The lay offs are part of an effort to mitigate the loss of general state aid to the school district next year. First, second and third year teachers will be targeted for lay offs. No one on the school board has specified at this point which positions will be cut. The district must notify laid off teachers at least 45 days prior to the close of the school year.

The Kaneland School District will have $1.4 million to $2.4 million in aid cut from their budget next year. The district is considering whether to cut funding for interscholastic sports for eighth graders and several high school clubs as a part of their budget reduction.
