Rosewood Manor, a Tennessee nursing home, is closing its doors and 45 people will be left without a job, according to a mass layoff notice filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The facility, which is owned by Rosewood Manor Inc. and run by Tennessee Health Management Inc., will be closed on May 7, according to the Nashville Business Journal. It will be converted to a 16-bed “geri-psych” facility that will provide a home for elderly people with behavioral problems.

Rosewood Manor was licensed to care for 68 people, but fewer than 10 people presently reside there. The chief operating officer for Tennessee Health Management, Mark Davis, told the business journal that there were more than six dozen beds already available at other facilities within a 20-mile radius.

The newly-designed facility is slated to open by the end of the year and that the company hopes to hire some of the people that are about to be laid off.
